Phobia Farm
Only fear grows here ...
Off the highway is a road…
Down the road, there are fields…
Amongst the fields, is a farm…
ONLY FEAR GROWS HERE!!!!
An immigrant from mainland Europe, William Phobe settled the four hundred acre farm in rural southeastern Missouri during the great depression. Acquiring the land for next to nothing, William thought he had received his American dream. This would soon become his nightmare… The land has a dark and bloody history which William was unaware of. Within the four hundred acres are unconfirmed battle and burial sites from the frontier days to the Civil War. No one knows for sure, but rumor of the number of people buried on the acreage range from hundreds to thousands. People say on a still day, the fields sway in a sobering rhythm. At night, moans and cries fill the air. And souls brave enough to walk through the fields find blood amongst the soil. Shortly after arriving, William was made aware of the rumors but quickly dispelled them. He worked night and day building a house and barns, clearing and planting fields and raising livestock. William was amazed at how well his crops grew in the “red dirt” and his livestock was more like his family than his food source. Everything seemed to be going well for William until the sickness struck. In the summer of 1934 hundreds of local residents became deathly ill from a bizarre case of food poisoning. Angry and frightened, people blamed William and his cursed farm. With every passing day William became more and more recluse. When William stopped coming to town people became suspicious, however, no one dared to venture out to his farm to see what happened. A year went by, then two and still no sign of William. The farm started to fall in disarray, fields became overgrown and people continued to stay away from what was now being referenced as “Phobia Farm.” The farm and fields sat deserted for the next 60 years. Word of a new highway has sparked talks of the old Phobe farm. The county has claimed the farm and started clearing the fields. As workers were getting ready to tear down the farm house and barn, one of the workers made a gruesome discovery when he ventured into the barn. Time to face your phobias and venture into the barn…….
